SCROLL TO BEGIN

our love story

Scot and Emily’s love story began in their sophomore year of high school. Like any typical high school relationship, it began with a text- one that Scot’s friends practically forced him to send. The following weekend, Scot and Emily attended the Friday night football game, and the rest is history…

On their first date, Scot and Emily went to Red Robin. Emily’s parents sat only a few tables away because they were 15 and obviously too young to drive at the time. Scot and Emily officially started dating on November 13th, 2010. Fast forward to 10 years later, Scot proposed, and Emily said YES to marrying her high school sweetheart on November 13th, 2020.

Following high school, Scot and Emily on to college together at Penn State, though neither will take credit for “who followed who” … Scot loved the Penn State football games, while Emily loved tailgating and trips to the creamery. But together, they enjoyed spending time with friends, the old and the new, and made a lot of memories there. Upon graduation, Scot and Emily decided they we not ready to leave Happy Valley and chose to pursue their master’s degrees in their respective fields.

As if grad school was not stressful enough, Scot and Emily decided to start a little family together by rescuing their sweet pup, Sadie! After Emily spent years begging Scot to get a puppy, he took one look at Sadie and fell completely in love. Even though Sadie is an absolute princess and automatically assumes there is something for her in every TJ Maxx bag brought through the door… she is the BEST decision they had ever made together. Sadie has brought so much love and incredible joy to their lives.

One year ago, in the middle of the pandemic, Scot and Emily bought house together in Newtown, PA. Even after 10 years of being together, Scot and Emily found out that there was still a LOT to learn about one another once they started living together – the good, the bad, and the ugly. But all in all, Scot and Emily love being roommates and live for nights filled with wine, Schitt’s Creek, and far too competitive games of Connect Four.

On November 13th, 2020, Scot finally asked Emily to marry him! Scot arranged a surprise proposal, with the help of family and friends, despite knowing how Emily had responded to surprises in the past. It was just before sunset when Scot brought Emily to Tyler Gardens. As they walked down the steps to the garden, “MARRY ME” was spelled out in roses. Scot got down on one knee and asked his high school sweetheart to spend the rest of his life with him! It was a perfect moment, until the security guard came down and started yelling at them for trespassing! That night, Scot and Emily laughed and cried, took pictures, and celebrated together with close family and friends.

Scot and Emily have the LONGEST love story with 10 years worth of memories, love, friendship, and growing up together. They look forward to tying the knot and celebrating their love with the family and friends whom have played an integral part in their relationship over the past 10 years!

the proposal

As I began the 5 hour drive to Hershey from Saratoga Springs, New York, to be with my family for my birthday, I couldn’t help but drive a little faster because I knew that tomorrow Aaron was making the drive to Hershey from D.C for the weekend too. Since I had been in Saratoga completing my 11 month long dietetic internship, Aaron and I were lucky if we saw each other once a month for a weekend at a time. This was unfamiliar territory for us after attending the same high school and college together for the past 6 years! Little did I know that this weekend would be the most memorable of my life.
The next day I couldn’t sit still. Aaron and I had plans to visit Spring Gate Vineyard in Harrisburg for my birthday, but I was just excited to finally see him again. I will never forget how slow the last 15 minutes passed as I waited for him alone at the side door of my parents' house while they were “out to dinner”. Little did I know that I was actually waiting for my best friend to propose to me. Finally, he arrived and I rushed out to give him a big squeeze like you give someone special when you haven’t seen them in a long time. Finally, after we let each other go, Aaron raced back to his car as if he had forgotten something (apparently I threw him off by waiting for him at the side door, Woops!). I watched him pull out the box and take a knee to propose and in an instant I felt like the happiest and luckiest person in the entire world. He looked like he was shaking so much and I quickly said yes and hugged him as happy tears filled my eyes. His plan was so simple and perfect and it was just us, which made me feel so comfortable. There was plenty of crying, laughing, and a mini bottle of champagne that my mom set up (and hid from me) for us in the house to quickly celebrate. In the meantime, both of our families were at the Mill restaurant in Hershey who we joined to celebrate. It was an incredible weekend and I am so excited to marry my best friend and high school sweetheart!
